Professor Marzilli is Professor and Chairman of the Cardiovascular Medicine Division at the University of Pisa. He is also Director of the Post-Graduate School of Cardiology at the University of Pisa and has held many very senior positions in the field of Cardiology including – Professor and Chairman, Cardiology Division, University of Siena. Director, Post-Graduate School of Cardiology, University of Siena. Director of the Invasive Cardiology Unit at the Institute of Clinical Physiology, National Council of Research (CNR), Pisa. Associate Professor of Cardiovascular Medicine at the University of Pisa. Associate Professor of Clinical Physiology, National Research Council (CNR), Pisa. Director of Experimental Pathology Laboratory at the Institute of Clinical Physiology, National Research Council (CNR), Pisa. Professor Marzilli is the Past Chair of the ESC Working Group on Coronary Pathophysiology and Microcirculation, the Past Co-ordinator of the Italian Society of Cardiology Microcirculatory Study Group and is a member of the International Society of Heart Research. Professor Marzilli obtained his Medical Degree in the University of Pisa School of Medicine and also holds fellowships in Cardiology and in Rheumatology and Diagnostic Radiology. His special interest areas include Interventional Cardiology, Coronary Pathophysiology, Ischaemic Heart Disease and Clinical Pharmacology. Professor Marzilli is also the author of over 300 peer-reviewed manuscripts and is the editor/author of 9 books.
