AIMS AND OBJECTIVES
The 2019 Meeting of Minds brought together; leading Cardiologists, Academics, Researchers, Clinicians, Medical Professionals and Patients to share and exchange knowledge and information, to further understanding, to inform research and to discuss the unmet needs in Coronary Artery Spasm, Coronary Microvascular Dysfunction, Microvascular Angina and Takotsubo.

The Meeting of Minds sought to


The Message of the Meeting
To help improve recognition, prompt diagnosis and effective treatment. 
 To encourage research re tailored medication and new diagnostic testing.
 To highlight potential updates to education and training in the healthcare setting.
 To create/improve effective A&E Protocols for acute presentations of CAS/CMVD.
 To encourage care via a multidisciplinary team to include both the patient and GP.

FUNDING
In 2019 INOCA International were delighted to receive a £5,000 grant from The British Heart Foundation to help support our inaugural Meeting. This was a great honour, especially as this was a private non-BHF branded event. So whilst this was sadly a one off exceptional grant, which we were aware of from the outset, we were truly delighted to be supported by this very much appreciated funding from the British Heart Foundation.
Patients also very generously set out to raise funds for the 2019 Meeting of Minds via a crowdfunding page and as a result of the generosity of the British Heart Foundation, each of those patients, their families and friends and some very generous sponsors and supporters, all costs of the 2019 Meeting of Minds were covered, including all the costs of live-streaming the meeting too. Presentations from the meeting were also recorded on the day and made available to view on the INOCA website.
The speakers were not associated with the fundraising in any way and did not request it. This was a patient crowdfunding initiative to ensure that all the costs were covered and that the meeting was the best it could be, not just for those attending in person, but also for all those who were viewing live around the world and those viewing the recorded videos and enjoying the information on this website thereafter too.
We were blessed to have the invaluable support of so many. We could not possibly name them all but to each and every one of you, our heartfelt thanks go to you all, for believing in us, for trusting us and for joining with us in this incredible initiative.

ACCOUNTS
The Steering Group met in January 2020 and approved the accounts for the 2019 Meeting of Minds. The estimated total value of the 2019 Meeting of Minds was just under £107,000 (at a very conservative estimate). We are delighted to report that as a result of tremendous support, overwhelming good will and fiscal management, the team brought the 2019 Meeting of Minds in at the very much reduced total cost of £12,334.82 with a closing nil balance.
